An Effective Prayer Guideline

Prayer is and should be a very fundamental part and parcel of children of The LORD God Almighty (The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; JEHOVAH; YAHWEH; The Great I AM; The Holy One of Israel).

The First point that we need to note is that we need the mighty Power of The LORD God Almighty and the strength of The LORD, even as we pray. This is because prayer is a spiritual warfare; since our struggle is not against the flesh or the blood, but a spiritual warfare against forces of evil and darkness. Therefore we need to put on the Full Armour of God everyday and every moment of our life so that we may take a firm stand on our ground. The Full Armour of God includes: Faith, Truth, Righteousness, Gospel of Peace, Prayer in the Spirit, Salvation, and The Word of God.

Meaning that we need to have faith that The LORD will answer our prayer according to His perfect will and perfect timing; because without faith it is impossible to please The LORD. We also need to embrace Truth even as we pray; and the truth is the pure teachings of The LORD Jesus Christ which then sets us free from sin, wickedness, evil and a lifestyle of sin. This therefore calls for Repentance for the forgiveness of our sins.

Repentance for the forgiveness of our sins should thus be the first item when we appear before The LORD in prayer; because therein is our cleaning, purification, refining, washing through The Blood of The LORD Jesus Christ, The Holy Fire from the throne room of Heaven and sanctification through The Holy Spirit. We then need to walk in Righteousness (Right before The LORD by following His Ways and Requirements). We also need the Gospel of The LORD Jesus Christ; The message of The Blood and The Cross.

This is the gospel of peace whereupon we now need to make every effort to live in Peace with everyone, and to be Holy; for without Holiness no one will see The LORD. We also need to Pray under the guidance and control of The Holy Spirit; meaning that we need to ask The LORD to fill us with The Power and The Anointing of The Holy Spirit to help us in prayer and how and what we ought to pray for. We also need to be born again; meaning surrender fully our lives to The LORD Jesus Christ and believing in His most powerful Name and receiving Him us our personal savior, who came to die for us on the cross of Calvary for us to be redeemed through His Precious Blood that was a sacrifice to atone for our sins.

We also need to be fully anchored in the Word of God; meaning that The Word of God needs to be established in our hearts, because it is the sword of The Spirit (The Holy Spirit) that also sanctifies us.

The Second point that we need to note is that we need to have the joy of salvation, by rejoicing always in every circumstance. We do this by singing praises and worship songs to The LORD. When we worship in Truth and in Spirit (The Holy Spirit), The LORD cleanses and purifies us by His Mighty Presence. This is very well captured in the book of Philippians 4:4-5 which states as follows: ‘“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.”’ The same is also very powerfully captured in the book of James 5: 13 which states as follows: “………………………Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.”

The Third point that we need to note is that we should not be anxious about anything or overtaken or overcome by trouble concerning anything. All we need to do is to go before The LORD in prayer; whereupon we present our prayer requests and petitions before The LORD God Almighty, The LORD Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit. This is very powerfully captured in the book of Philippians 4:6 which states as follows: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, ………………..present your requests to God.” The same is also very well captured in the book of James 5:13 which states as follows: “Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray………”

The Fourth point that we need to note is that, we need always to offer Thanksgiving to The LORD, by thanking Him for everything He has blessed us with, including prayers answered and even the prayers not yet answered. Thanksgiving is a form of worship, faithfulness and humility. All it involves is going before The LORD, on your knees in prayer and saying: “Thank You Abba Father. I don’t deserve your great love for me and your great move in my life, but your grace is sufficient for me and I say Thank You My LORD!!!”. This is very powerfully captured in the book of Philippians 4:6-7 which states as follows: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Actually thanksgiving brings more grace, more anointing, more power, more visitation and more blessings from The LORD.

This is very powerfully captured in the parable of the ten lepers as stated in the book of Luke 17:11-19 which states as follows: ‘“Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”’

The Fifth point that we need to note is that the coming of The LORD is imminent, so prayer becomes even more critical in preparing the way for the coming of The LORD Jesus Christ to Rapture His Bide. Through prayer, we endevour to embrace Repentance for the forgiveness of our sins and thereby walking in Righteousness, Holiness, Truth and Complete Surrender to The LORD Jesus Christ. Prayer therefore is part of cleansing, refining, purification, washing and cleaning up through The Blood of The LORD Jesus Christ, The Holy Fire and the anointing of The Holy Spirit. This is very powerfully captured in the book of 1st Peter 4:7 which states as follows: “The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.”

The Sixth point that we need to note is that we should always endevour to walk in Righteousness before The LORD and to shun evil: because the fear of The LORD, that is Wisdom and to shun evil, that is Understanding. When we have submitted ourselves before The LORD for washing through His precious Blood and are now walking in Righteousness, The LORD will be pleased with us and our prayer will be acceptable before Him, because His eyes will be upon us. This is very powerfully captured in the book of 1st Peter 3:12 which states as follows: “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” Likewise, the same is also very well captured in the book of Proverbs 15:29 which states as follows: “The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.” Furthermore, the same is also very powerfully captured in the book of Proverbs 28:9 which states as follows: “One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.”

The Seventh point that we need to note is that we need to continuously be in prayer i.e. pray without ceasing. Meaning that every day we need to appear before The LORD and present before Him our prayer requests and petitions and thanksgiving. As we do this, The LORD will continuously cleanse, refine, purify, wash and sanctify us. This is very well powerfully captured in the book of 1st Thessalonians 5:16-18 which states as follows: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

The Eighth point that we need to note is that, prayer draws us closer to The LORD. Our relationship with The LORD thus becomes enhanced and becomes a personal walk, just the same way Enoch walked with The LORD faithfully until he was no more (Raptured into Heaven). This is very powerfully captured in the book of James 4:8-10 which states as follows: ‘“Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”’ The same is also captured very powerfully and very beautifully in the book of Genesis 5:24 which states as follows: “Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.”

The Ninth point that we need to note is that we should always intercede and stand in the gap in prayer for our Families, Neighbours, Friends, The Bride of Christ and also Servants of The LORD etc. This is very powerfully captured in the book of Ephesians 6: 18-20 which states as follows: ‘“ And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.”’
